Ex-Pirelli model Christina Estrada has been awarded £53m in her divorce settlement. She had initially wanted a settlement of £196m to meet her “needs” from the Saudi Sheik Walid Juffali. The wealthy businessman had previously offered Ms Estrada a settlement of £37m which she had rejected in the hope for more. The total settlement now after taking into account her own assets would amount to a mammoth £75m. Her lawyers described this settlement: “the largest needs award ever made by an English court”.

Ms Estrada a US citizen was married to the wealthy Saudi businessman Sheik Walid Juffali for 13 years. Having grown up as middle class, her marriage had given her a more luxurious lifestyle and expectation of needs. Mr Juffali’s solicitors, Mishcon de Reya, issued a statement after the hearing, stating that: “Mr Juffali had shown himself to be a fair man who has been prepared to offer his ex-wife a more than comfortable lifestyle for the rest of her life, which he believes she deserves”. Mrs Justice Roberts said in her ruling that Ms Estrada had described her lifestyle during the course of the marriage as “magical”.

Mr Juffali has now been ordered to pay Ms Estrada her settlement sum by the 29th July 2016 and also supply a Lamborghini to his former wife within a fortnight or hand over another £140,000.
